When I look at you, oh I don't know what's true.

On Saturday and Tuesday I went to see my favourite band of all time My Bloody Valentine play at the Roundhouse. Saturday I took Rachel and we had circle seats and Tuesday I stood with the Bristol crew. I can't tell you how good it was, words will never do it justice. It was like they never disappeared instead of hibernating for 14 years or so.





Next morning we had breakfast with the Dover's.

Kusuko!! I can't believe he's been in the country for like a year and I've only seen him twice! I'm slipping.

For the uninitiated... MBV always finish with You Made Me Realise which contains a "white noise" part in the middle before the last verse and chorus. On vinyl it's like 30 seconds long. When I saw them in 1991 and 1992 they did it for about 10 minutes. Both times this week they did it for over 20 minutes. I'd say Saturday was more like 25. Very hard to explain what this is like but if you can imagine the loudest noise you've EVER heard going on for the same amount of time as most episodes of soap operas you might have a tiny inkling of what MBV can do.

You can actually feel the wind from the speakers. It hurts, it makes you laugh, it makes you panic, it made me fart. It's incredible. And when the last verse and chorus kick back in - Damn! Trust me - you need to experience it before you die. Unlikely seeing as they seem fine taking 14 year breaks.

Look who I found outside! Traumatised and unable to speak for 10 minutes or so.

Honeymoon photos time. We went to a tiny island in the Maldives. Via seaplane.





The seaplane dropped us off on this sketchy floating pontoon thing. The sea was pretty rough but fortunately I was there looking tough to make Rachel feel safe.

So many tropical fish under the north jetty. They fed them some nights so you could hang out and see turtles, rays and massive tuna.











We snorkeled every day. The fish we saw were absolutely astounding. I even swam with big turtles - twice! I can die happy after that, it was humbling and I'm super grateful for the experience.




Right by the shoreline you got baby sharks swimming by. We saw lots. Apparently they swim there because they're scared of the bigger sharks in deeper waters. Awww! They seemed almost cute after we found that out.








Man, my stomach must have hated me. Each meal I got from the buffet had at least 3 types of meat. This one has pork, chicken, gammon and octopus. Yikes!

These little fellas, affectionately known as 'funny birds', kept me amused for the whole 2 weeks. Their massive comedy feet and silly walk made me want to smuggle one home.




You can still smoke indoors in the Maldives which means you can play pool with one hangin' off your lip. Trouble is, even something as sedate as pool can make you break a sweat. It was pretty much 30 degrees constantly.

Happy Anivaseri!! Ha Ha! I hooked this up with the hotel manager for Rach to celebrate our 1 week "anivaseri".















You know how you make friends on holiday and can tolerate that they're very different from you because you're away from home and you have the chance to reinvent yourself? Anyway, you promise to keep in touch but when you get home you just think "Piiisssss Offff!"
Actually one couple were good people so I shouldn't be too harsh.

I'm writing this to say, in a gentle way, thank you and yes...

This is Rachel for those that have been asleep for the last 18 months or so. I married her the other day. She is nice.

This is one of Tura's pics, maybe a a rough scan of one anyway, but that's what we looked like on the day. The wedding was held at this amazing organic farm in Somerset and the sun shone all day, our friends camped and we all had a right laugh (maybe too much of one in some cases!)
